Embrace this Moment

Image
photo by Dawid Zawila Embrace  the gentle kiss  of the wind, reminding  us that in stark stillness remains  life’s breath We can easily invite unnecessary stress into our lives by worrying and overthinking certain details. There are times that a person can be dealing with a stressful situation and she allows it to consume her entire being. It is so easy to unwittingly find ourselves caught in the cycle of stress. It is in those moments that we need to step back and appreciate the smaller things. It is in those moments that I encourage you to stop and breathe.  It’s not just about the breath. I want you to take that moment and think of the smallest things that we take for granted like your feet for example. Most importantly, I want you to remember in that moment that you are alive and can feel and can take action. Think of nothing else but your potential. Just breathe and be thankful or just be.  At some point, you should write down...

Never Stress over what you can't Control

Image
There are times when it seems as if stress comes out of nowhere. However, it may seem or even feel, stress does not come of out no where. Stress response or reaction usually starts with a trigger. Something has happened to throw us off balance and now our bodies are activated to get things back under control.  Where we can have an impact on how stress is activated in our life, is by assessing and being aware. What was the trigger? Why are we having this reaction and how can we change the course towards a positive end result. One thing that we should not do regardless of the trigger is worry. Worry only leads to more stress and most of the times it comes without hopes for a solution. Worry particularly can get over activated if you are stressing about something you have absolutely no control over. Never stress over what you can't control. Instead, think of how to solve the problem, brainstorm and engage in team work, if there is a team. What ever it is, know that time wil...

Terrifying Laundry Room

Image
The Terrifying Laundry Room My laundry room is an absolute terror. I have seven laundry baskets ... seven! There's only three of us. These seven baskets each have some level of clothes in them. I have lost track of which ones have clothes that are clean, need to be washed,  need to be folded or refolded or whetever else. Then I have a table with clothes on it that vary from towels to sheets, mis-paired pillow cases to new clothes, old clothes, give-away clothes and I probably should just trash these clothes. Oh and I have pillows. I do not know why there are pillows in here. Where is their home? Whose missing pillows and why have you not collected them? At one point, my laundry room was a wonderful place to walk into, spacious and everything in its place. Towels and sheets were folded on the shelf. The table actually had room for the small ironing board and we ironed clothes there regularly without having to exert energy to displace whatever clothing was in our way. How did I...

Trailer Talk: Deadpool

Image
Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds released this weekend with a box office gross of 163 million in the US, 300 million worldwide. As much as I would like to see it and Thing 1 and Thing 2 keep begging for me to take them, we won't be able to because it is R rated. This and other available trailers are the only funny goodness that I will get unless I sneak to watch it on my own, and who has time for that? I have to make the most of my movie watching time which usually included the babies.   Congratulations to Ryan Reynolds though. Seems like a nice hard working guy who deserves the success.

Parents, do not forget you!

Image
The babies, the boy and girl, are not really babies anymore. They are annoying, drive-me-crazy Thing 1 and Thing 2 pre-teens. They drive me to levels of frustration that only a bleeding heart, loving parent can understand. When it gets rough, and sometimes that seems daily, I yell and scream (which I really hate doing) out of frustration because they haven't listened to me the first 200 times I asked or said it in a normal voice. Nowadays, I just jump to screaming and have to catch myself. I'm a work in progress. As a raving lunatic mother, I am consistently filled with self doubt about my parenting skills. I think maybe I expect too much from them, maybe I do not expect enough. I ask myself how the heck do other parents do this and get through it. I often wonder about running away for a while. I am planning a vacation without them and of course I feel a tinge of guilt about it, but I know it is needed. It is needed because I need to get away from feeling like I am not go...

I gotta keep up with the kids. I do not know if I have a choice since they annoy me to no end with this remix. They will remix anything at all these days.

Sunday's with the kids

Image
I am learning to like Sundays again. It is a slow process but it is coming along. For most people it is family time. I try to keep it that way. We get spiritually rejuvenated and then spend time chilling. It usually works out well, especially if the house is clean by then. Last Sunday, I did my daughter's hair. I usually style it for at least two weeks. Now she wants me to do something else to it. So, it looks like I will spend some of this Sunday doing her hair again  ... maybe towards the end of the night. It is actually relaxing because once the design is decided upon, I let my fingers work. We talk and watch television and my son sits with us, being the annoying older brother. It is a relaxing way to wind down, get connected and enjoy each other. Although it may seem like a chore, it is about prespective and how we approach things. Turn a chore into an experience. Do hair and live lite! Happy Sunday!
