Parents, do not forget you!

Image
The babies, the boy and girl, are not really babies anymore. They are annoying, drive-me-crazy Thing 1 and Thing 2 pre-teens. They drive me to levels of frustration that only a bleeding heart, loving parent can understand. When it gets rough, and sometimes that seems daily, I yell and scream (which I really hate doing) out of frustration because they haven't listened to me the first 200 times I asked or said it in a normal voice. Nowadays, I just jump to screaming and have to catch myself. I'm a work in progress. As a raving lunatic mother, I am consistently filled with self doubt about my parenting skills. I think maybe I expect too much from them, maybe I do not expect enough. I ask myself how the heck do other parents do this and get through it. I often wonder about running away for a while. I am planning a vacation without them and of course I feel a tinge of guilt about it, but I know it is needed. It is needed because I need to get away from feeling like I am not go...

Super Mario Dance

I gotta keep up with the kids. I do not know if I have a choice since they annoy me to no end with this remix. They will remix anything at all these days.

Sunday's with the kids

Image
I am learning to like Sundays again. It is a slow process but it is coming along. For most people it is family time. I try to keep it that way. We get spiritually rejuvenated and then spend time chilling. It usually works out well, especially if the house is clean by then. Last Sunday, I did my daughter's hair. I usually style it for at least two weeks. Now she wants me to do something else to it. So, it looks like I will spend some of this Sunday doing her hair again  ... maybe towards the end of the night. It is actually relaxing because once the design is decided upon, I let my fingers work. We talk and watch television and my son sits with us, being the annoying older brother. It is a relaxing way to wind down, get connected and enjoy each other. Although it may seem like a chore, it is about prespective and how we approach things. Turn a chore into an experience. Do hair and live lite! Happy Sunday!

I Believe in Me

Image
There are a great many things that I want for my children. The most important is for them to succeed in life and be mindful citizens that contribute positively to the community and world that they live in.  I believe the foundation to this is a healthy sense of self worth. A positive self esteem will help to keep us foucused and not distracted by the negativity in the world.  So I was encouraged by my daughter's cover art for her binder. Some how through all my crazy yelling and insanity,  I think I'm doing something right. Believe in yourself.

Where My Love Goes

Image
I have two little ones, my son and my daughter.  They are my everything. Yet, they frustrate me to no end. Sometimes they make me so crazy that I just don't know what I'm going to do with them. Then there are those moments when they are doing something silly or making me laugh that I stop and look at them and realize that all the love I have in me is nestled in them. My children frustrate me and worry me and stress me out because I love them so much, because I want what's best for them. All of the excess love that I have in me is alive in them. In those fleeting moments in which the love in my heart swells for them I realized that it is all worth it. That is where my love goes.

My Mom Brings Home Condoms

Image
Between my mother and children, I am never low on things that me make laugh my butt off. I'm sitting at home in the lanai, enjoying a beautiful day off when my mother comes through the door and drops a handful of condoms on my laptop. Yeah, I was confused and immediately curious. She goes on to say she wondered why the nurses looked at her funny when she grabbed a hand full of them and dropped them in her purse. LOL well senior citizens need love too right?  Except, she thought they were prepackaged wipes! Lol. She kills me.
