When Cutting Your Losses Goes Wrong: Kristy and Demond Scott

Image
When Cutting Your Losses Goes Wrong: Kristy and Demond Scott Listen below now or on your favorite streaming platform ! US Weekly recently published that Kristy and Desmond Scott agreed to divorce terms over two months ago. The terms include how they will split the assets, custody of the children, and even how they will communicate on the children’s education. I am sure their lawyers left no stone unturned in order to get the divorce done. However, the article also states from the court documents that, “Ten days after filing, Desomnd, 32, filed an answer to Kristy’s divorce petition with a general denial and requested attorney’s fees, expenses, and costs on March 27th. It appears a motion for trial on merits is scheduled for hearing in July.”  There have been a lot of internet discussions about this couple because those who have followed them were weirdly invested in their relationship. I think there was also a fantastical aspect to their relationship because it looked like they w...

Divorce Stress Is Real: Gayle King’s Story Hits Hard  Gayle at the Met Gala 2026 Listen below now or on your favorite streaming platform ! In the list of life's most stressful events, divorce ranks second, right behind the death of a spouse. Now, everything that leads up to that can ramp up the stress meter. In Gayle King’s case, catching her husband cheating red-handed definitely ramped things up a bit. She recently shared during her appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she got home and caught her husband fresh out of the shower with someone she thought was a friend.  Not only was Gayle King dealing with the shock of this man, William Bumpus, cheating, but she also had to learn that it was with another person she had some level of trust. They had been married for 11 years and, eventually, they did end up getting a divorce. What got her through that ordeal was reaching out to friends and having people to lean on. Of course, she talked about immediately calling her B...

The Power of a Proactive Mindset: Small Steps, Big Transformations

The Power of  a Proactive Mindset You don’t have to chase what’s meant for you. What’s meant for you, will find you. -Alex Elle Listen below now or on your favorite streaming platform ! What is meant for you will find you, but you must be ready to receive it. I often imagine that some people may hear that quote and believe that if they think it or dream it, it will come. That is a wonderful sentiment but lacks a basis in reality. Because you have to lay the groundwork to not only receive it but, most importantly, first, recognize it. Sometimes that thing can be staring you down, but because you are not in a space to notice, the moment passes you by.  Recognize and receive.  Are you ready for it? What’s meant for you can be life-changing but only if you are ready to go in that direction. So it is not enough to dream about it, although that is a start, but we have to do the work. Of course, we don’t have to chase that thing down because if you are doing the work, I genuinel...

Recalibrating Expectations: A Path to Enhanced Well-Being and Stress Management

Image
Recalibrating Expectations: A Path to Enhanced Well-Being and Stress Management In today’s fast-paced world, we often set lofty expectations for ourselves—whether at work, in our relationships, or even with our health. While ambition is a driving force behind success, it can also lead to burnout, stress, and feelings of inadequacy when those expectations aren't met. One powerful way to combat this is through recalibrating our expectations, which can greatly benefit our mental well-being and stress management. LISTEN TO THE PODCAST NOW What Does It Mean to Recalibrate Expectations? Recalibrating expectations refers to adjusting your goals, desires, or outcomes based on your current circumstances and capabilities. It is about aligning your expectations with reality, and it doesn’t mean lowering your standards or aspirations. Instead, it’s about recognizing that circumstances shift, and so too should your approach to how you measure success. Many of us fall into the trap of setting ex...

Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey Part 1

Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto by Tricia Hersey Part 1 Listen below I have finally finished reading Rest is Resistance and I was not ready to tackle this read. It took me a while to finish this book not because it was bad or anything but because I do not read like I used to. I want to get back to reading a book a week but it is just not happening right now. Nevertheless, I am excited that I have finished it and get to share my thoughts with you to the point that I will do a Rest is Resistance series because there were so many good nuggets in this book.  I was expecting a cutesy little book about making sure you take a break and don’t work yourself too hard. I was not ready for what I got. If you are not prepared to really be confronted with the woes of capitalism, white supremacy racism, sexism, and all the bad isms then this is not the book for you. Hersey is in your face and does not hold any punches. The writing itself flows very nicely with a poetic feel. It is to be e...

Image
Journal Prompt: Reflect on Your Moments of Self-Care Reflect on moments when you have cared for your mental, emotional, or physical well-being. How did you prioritize yourself, and what self-care activities brought you joy and contentment? More Than That Self-care is not simply pampering yourself  Getting facials, a spa day Good skin-care routine  Self-care is more than that  It is not about being a selfish person  It is more than that Self-care doesn’t have to be pricey or a whole production It has more meaning than that Self-care is remembering  You are a person  You are a human being  Attention and maintenance  Pruning and watering These are not optional Self-care is remembering you  Remembering that you need attention too Self-care is more than that holistically taking care of you Mind, body, soul Mentally, physically, spiritually  Self-care is all the things  Self-care is safety Self-care is your safe space - Wanda Toby

Ten Habits Stealing Your Joy

Say Goodbye to these 10 Behaviors for a More Joyful Life True happiness is born of letting go of what is unnecessary -Sharon Salzberg A couple of weeks ago The Vessel put out an article about the 10 behaviors a person has to get rid of to be more joyful. Now I felt attacked by some of the suggestions but they are good practical things to try and remove from your life. With the new year fast approaching, now may be a good time to review what you have going on in your life and what you want to leave behind in 2023.  Their list is as follows: Don’t harbor negativity Don’t indulge in self-doubt Don’t cling to past failures Don’t entertain toxic relationships Don’t procrastinate on goals Don’t ignore your health Don’t shy away from self-improvement Don’t resist change Don’t compare yourself to others Don’t neglect your passions I think I will do a full series on this called the “Joyful Don’ts” because these are all good suggestions that I can dig into, one by one. All in all, the a...
