Journal Prompt: Reflect on Your Moments of Self-Care

Image
Journal Prompt: Reflect on Your Moments of Self-Care Reflect on moments when you have cared for your mental, emotional, or physical well-being. How did you prioritize yourself, and what self-care activities brought you joy and contentment? More Than That Self-care is not simply pampering yourself  Getting facials, a spa day Good skin-care routine  Self-care is more than that  It is not about being a selfish person  It is more than that Self-care doesn’t have to be pricey or a whole production It has more meaning than that Self-care is remembering  You are a person  You are a human being  Attention and maintenance  Pruning and watering These are not optional Self-care is remembering you  Remembering that you need attention too Self-care is more than that holistically taking care of you Mind, body, soul Mentally, physically, spiritually  Self-care is all the things  Self-care is safety Self-care is your safe space - Wanda Toby

Affirmation and Journal Prompt: I am growing through every experience

Image
Affirmation: I am growing through every experience.  Journal prompt as it relates to the above: I am most proud of my ... Growth is part of our life's journey. When you start out your energies are focused on growing physically, developmentally, and cognitively. As we grow older into adulthood and maturity we then have to grow emotionally and mentally. Sometimes it is hard to do that if we fail to understand the importance of working through our emotions in order to learn from them and resolve them.  In many instances, some of us spend more time running from uncomfortable feelings in which we choose to mask them because it seems easier. However, the more we run the more difficult it becomes to deal with them and we are left with a life we do not recognize because we are trying to find other ways to cope with the consequences of our feelings.  A simple place to start is to write them down. Journal through them as it can help you prioritize your difficult feelings and reflec...

Journal Prompt: Healing vs Bullying

Image
Journal Prompt: Healing vs Bullying When do you stop being bullied by your parents? So I am watching Sweet Magnolias and a particular mother is rude and overbearing with her daughter. Her daughter is now a grown woman and her mother is still trying to bully her into doing what she thinks is best.  There are instances in my past where I have felt pressured to make certain choices and in some instances I resented it and in others, I have thanked God for my mother’s foresight. As a parent now, I find myself not always giving direction but sometimes being forceful. It is difficult not to get into “mommy mode” and ruin the vibe. I find myself teeter-tottering on being helpful and just being annoying. However, bullying instead of teaching and nurturing is not the message a parent should send out.  Was there ever a time, you felt bullied by your parent/s? Was it a one-time thing or was the entire relationship that dynamic? I would like to think that we can learn and grow from the tou...

Purpose of Life

Image
Purpose of Life The purpose of life is a life of purpose. -Robert Byrne What do you think about your life’s purpose? Every now and then I contemplate what that means to me. I read the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren many many years ago and really thought I had a sense of my world back then. I need to read it again because I am at a different place in my life and I do not think it will mean the same to me. There is a great deal that I can get from it because there are some basic concepts that are really universal when it comes to finding your purpose and growing personally. However, I feel that I have grown spiritually and there are some limiting beliefs in the Purpose Driven Life that I no longer prescribe to. With that in mind, I can definitely continue to grow and learn about who I am today from reading it again. That book although very popular is not the only book out there to help us work through how we feel about our life’s purpose. Do a simple google search on “life purp...
