Is Lovelle Mixon our Real Life Bigger Thomas?

Bigger Thomas was a character in Native Son written by Richard Wright. The book sits on my shelf and I read it about every few years or so, and I am not really sure why I do that. Bigger was messed up, mean spirited, and just a screw away from stupid. I am not sure if Wright’s intention was for the reader to ever have some type of sympathy for Bigger but I never could. It started with his name I guess. What kind of name is Bigger? Anyway, Bigger found himself in a messed up situation and made it so much worst that there was no way out for him. This Lovelle Mixon reminds me of Bigger Thomas. He got into a shoot out with cops and killed four of them in the process before getting killed himself. The people who loved him and some of the people in that neighborhood are trying to make it seem as though it was not his fault. Personally, I think it was his entire fault. I am not one of those that believe the system and environment that he grew up him led him on this path to violence, incarcera...

News Roll Call

Bounty Hunter N-Bombs Himself into Hiatus E! Online - 10 hours ago A&E has suspended production on its hit reality series Dog the Bounty Hunter in light of some—to put it mildly—racially insensitive remarks its star looks ... Check the original story out You really have to hear it yourself but if you cannot here is the quote. "I don't care if she's a Mexican, a whore or whatever. It's not because she's black, it's because we use the word n-word sometimes here. I'm not gonna take a chance ever in life of losing everything I've worked for for 30 years because some f%$ing n-word heard us say n-word and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine. Our career is over! I'm not taking that chance at all! Never in life! Never! Never! If Lyssa [Dog's daughter] was dating a n-word, we would all say 'F you!' And you know that. If Lyssa brought a black guy home ya da da... it's not that they're black, it's none of that. It...

Nobel Winner Said Blacks Are Less Intelligent

Nobel Winner Issues Apology for Comments About Blacks New York Times - James D. Watson, who shared the 1962 Nobel prize for deciphering the double-helix of DNA, apologized “unreservedly” yesterday for comments reported this week suggesting that black people, over all, are not as intelligent as whites. In an interview published Sunday in The Times of London, Dr. Watson is quoted as saying that while “there are many people of color who are very talented,” he is “inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa.” “All our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours — whereas all the testing says not really,” the newspaper quoted him as saying. In a statement given to The Associated Press yesterday, Dr. Watson said, “I cannot understand how I could have said what I am quoted as having said. There is no scientific basis for such a belief.” I can tell you why you said it ya bastard! That was no slip of the toung. It was said because that is what he believ...

Karrine "Superhead" Steffans: RME

I am going to be honest. This chick annoys the living crap out of me. I watched the interview and I just wanted to reach in, grab her, and shake her. I am a pretty straight up person, so all her bull^&%*! is making me RME whenever I hear her speak. She wants to talk about people being real when she is steady faking the funk her darn self. Don't all of a sudden pretend like you put this book out for altruistic reasons. Puhleeze. I would actually respect (well, maybe not really respect but I guess tolerate) her more if she said, "I am just trying to get paid. I had more dirt, so I wrote another book." But noooooo, she wants to act like she did it for the greater good of women or something. RME Whateva! Why then, Wanda, are you posting this interview. Well it's from http://www.aalbc.com/ and it is in the world of entertainment and it's drama. Besides, I get to rant on the heffa too. Anyway, here the heffa is with Troy from AALBC.com If it does not play, you can ...

VH1 Boycott

Image
So, there is a boycott going on against VH1 (this is a VH1 discussion board, scroll down for Eurweb articl) because of the negative ways in which Black women are portrayed on the network. I will be totally honest, when I first heard about this, I rolled my eyes and kept on moving. I thought that it was some hypocritical bull to boycott VH1 because when the shows were airing no one called for a boycott. When they kept on pimping Flava Flave's mug, no one called for a boycott. Then came I Love New York . Personally, I watched the shows once and couldn't take it beyond that; however, I know plenty of people who loved to watch VH1 ghettofied. Of course, I took it a step further and thought that no one called for a boycott of BET, MTV, VH1, Def Jam, Interscope, Virgin, and any other parties responsible for perpetuating negative images of women, Black women, and Black people. Like I said, I just kept it moving. However, for the purposes of this blog, I thought I would at least rea...

NAACP Pleads on Vic's Behalf

So, Micheal Vic has taken a plea deal. It is said that he will enter in his official guilty verdict sometime next week for a lighter sentence. What happens with the NFL remains to be seen. However, the NAACP is beseeching the commissioner on his behalf, saying that public opinion is unusually harsh. In reality, I think it has been Vic's attitude that has made the public hate him so harshly. The situation is of his own doing, he did not show any real remorse, and almost everyone loves dogs. Honestly, I don't feel that bad for him. Still, people have been forgiven for worst. From NY Daily News on the NAACP helping Vic Across the country from where White spoke, a top legal voice tried to explain the reaction. "I've represented murderers and people accused of terrible crimes, but I have not seen vitriol directed at anyone like it has for Vick," Mark Geragos , the famed Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney, told the Daily News. Among Geragos' clients is Sc...

Foxy Brown Doesn't Have the Sense Her Mother Gave Her

Image
Another person I do not remotely, not even a little tiny bit, feel bad for is Inga aka Foxy Brown . She has been ordered to go to jail until she goes to trial to determine whether or not she has violated her parole. The question really should be how many times has she violated her parole. The judge in this case feels no sympathay for her and I cannot blame her. Foxy has been given quite a few chances and she has blown most of them. Taken from the New York Daily News on Foxy "[Foxy] doesn't have enough sense to leave the jurisdiction without getting in trouble," Leo said. The rapper also allegedly played hooky from court-ordered sessions with a shrink and an anger-management counselor, skipping out on both since June, Leo said. "She feels she can report whenever she wants and go to the psychologist whenever she wants," Leo said. "She has an air of entitlement about her." Brown, 27, landed on probation after pleading guilty last year to assaulting two ma...

Woman Calls Police About 'Fake' Cocaine

Image
I am not trying to call out people from Georgia but this is unreal! A 53 year-old crack head Georgia resident actually called the cops when her $20 fix turned out to be fake crack. She even went so far as to show them the 'fake' merchandise. Was that in Whitney's home town? LOL You can go to ABCNews.com for the Crack Head story.

R. Kelly Finally Gets a Date

Image
ABC News reported that on September 17, 2006, R. Kelly will finally come before a judge for the child pornography charges. It is five years later, so in case you forgot. R. Kelly was allegedly scene on video (Did you catch it?) having sexual extracurriculars with an underage girl. He had the chicka dancing for him, shaking that boohootyyyyy, and allowing him to potty on her. The real shocker for me is that it has been five years since R. Kelly was charged with 14 counts of child pornography. Has five years really flown by that fast. I still talk about it like it happened yesterday. Although that could be because I was irreversibly traumatized by the images of the video tape. The other thing is that homeboy is 40 years old, and it is a good think he doesn't look it because he still running around like he in his 20s. It is just not cute. After all this time, I really just want justice to be served. I am wondering whether or not there will even be a real case. Five years later, people...

Lindsay Lohan For real, for real ... I don't want to give this attention but how can I not? This chick and the rest like her needs Jesus. First off, the chick looks like a hooker. It is obvious she got some work done in the boob area (I ain't mad but it doesn't look natural), and I swear she looks like she's had some collagen injected into her lips. All that aside, the heifer is stupid. I just don't understand how she could continue to willingly ruin her life. I know ... it's the drugs right? RME big time. So what's everyone talking about? Well, she got arrested and the police got more than they expected. Excerpt from ABCnews "Santa Monica police arrested Lohan early Tuesday and booked her on misdemeanor charges of suspicion of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license and two felony charges of possession of cocaine and transporting a narcotic into a jail. Lohan has a separate misdemeanor drunken driving charge pending again...

Toddler's 'Ecstasy Roll' The need for internet fame is so ridiculous that a couple of teenage girls would actually tape their child (a 2 year old) allegedly on ecstasy. Well, they say that she was only pretending by doing what they told her to and they were filming her. So, I actually watched the video and it is about to sensationalized for some drama. If you read the article below without seeing the video, you would be ready to send someone straight to jail without asking any questions. However, upon watching the video myself ... there are a few other issues that come to mind, the least of all is the little girl rolling her eyes. I don't think the little girl is on a darn thing but foolishness. I have a young son and when he gets to acting foolish, he can do all kinds of things with his eyes that annoy me to no end and no matter how many times I tell him to stop, he will keep on doing it because he thinks it is funny. The real issue is, why is the girl riding around in...
