How do we maintain normalcy in these crazy times? Stay in touch with your family the best that you can. Encourage eachother. Try and laugh where you can. Enjoy the small and subtle things. I have relied heavily on my good girlfriends and family to keep me same. Talk it out. Vent it out. Love eachother through it. Tomorrow will come and we will continue to push forward.

Terrifying Laundry Room

Image
The Terrifying Laundry Room My laundry room is an absolute terror. I have seven laundry baskets ... seven! There's only three of us. These seven baskets each have some level of clothes in them. I have lost track of which ones have clothes that are clean, need to be washed,  need to be folded or refolded or whetever else. Then I have a table with clothes on it that vary from towels to sheets, mis-paired pillow cases to new clothes, old clothes, give-away clothes and I probably should just trash these clothes. Oh and I have pillows. I do not know why there are pillows in here. Where is their home? Whose missing pillows and why have you not collected them? At one point, my laundry room was a wonderful place to walk into, spacious and everything in its place. Towels and sheets were folded on the shelf. The table actually had room for the small ironing board and we ironed clothes there regularly without having to exert energy to displace whatever clothing was in our way. How did I...

Five Simple Steps to Sacrificing for the Future

Image
Do what today others won't, so tomorrow you can do what other's can't. -Brian Rogers Loop Accomplishment  and reaching our goals is about sacrifice. Everything takes some level of effort from us. How much effort we are wiling to exert is the difference between sitting on the couch in front of the television for an couple of hours and doing something productive towards your goal, something we may no really want to do but is necessary to get to the next level. As much as it is about what we are doing, it is also about what the next person is not doing. Did you know accomplishment is rewarding to our sense of self and well being? The effort we make to get where we are going helps reaffirm our self-esteem when that goal is reached. A strong sense of self is a building block in stress management and stress relief. While getting there may require we step outside of our comfort zone, the reward in arriving there adds to the overall enrichment of our lives. Remember these f...

Boundless

Image
We are awesome creations. The things that we can do and the great things that people in the past have done are testaments to our potential. Don't let your thoughts and inactions and doubt be the things that hold you back. Be boundless. Boundless Limit yourself if you want to but I choose to harness the energy within and soar

Wait on the Lord

Have you ever seen those people who are waiting on the Lord? They seem to be just mulling around, waiting on the Lord to move something in their lives. Because I am a woman of action, I can say that there have been many times in my life when I should have waited on the Lord. Instead, I decided what the solution would be and took action, my kind of action my way. I know now that I should have slammed on the breaks and waited on God. I am not talking about sitting around doing nothing and waiting for God to do it for me though. If I do that, I know that I will be doomed. Waiting on the Lord is about consulting him before we take action. Pray and meditate on his word, let it soak in before we do something rash. Consult with God through the Bible and prayer. Waiting on the Lord is about acting in 100% faith. It is about being disciplined enough to do what God ask of us and not what we feel like or what the world tempts us to do. Now, everyday we are tempted by our desires and emotions and ...

Stay Away from Apathy

Today I feel blah. I know that I need to write something so that I can speak to God, but I don’t know where to begin. In truth, I have not inclination to do so; however, I forced myself. I looked up scripture and did not feel moved or touched by anything until I found 1st Thessalonians, chapter five, starting at verse five. It was with those words that I realized I had to put my apathy to rest. We all have those moments when we go through the motions of life. We go to school, go to work, take care of the family, and live life as if we are on cruise control; we go through the motions of living. There is a level of apathy that is intrinsic in living like that, a detachment that is void of real emotion. In truth, not only can we become apathetic in our daily lives but it can cross over to our spiritual one as well, affecting the word, our goals, dreams, and reason for living. This lack of zest and emotion is from a dark place. This lack of interest, true excitement is not of God. Imagine ...
