Wait on the Lord

Have you ever seen those people who are waiting on the Lord? They seem to be just mulling around, waiting on the Lord to move something in their lives. Because I am a woman of action, I can say that there have been many times in my life when I should have waited on the Lord. Instead, I decided what the solution would be and took action, my kind of action my way. I know now that I should have slammed on the breaks and waited on God.

I am not talking about sitting around doing nothing and waiting for God to do it for me though. If I do that, I know that I will be doomed. Waiting on the Lord is about consulting him before we take action. Pray and meditate on his word, let it soak in before we do something rash. Consult with God through the Bible and prayer. Waiting on the Lord is about acting in 100% faith. It is about being disciplined enough to do what God ask of us and not what we feel like or what the world tempts us to do. Now, everyday we are tempted by our desires and emotions and former selves. Everyday we have to work to be holy. Our minds have to be alert and unwavering.

So, I have no problem waiting on God as long as while I wait, I am working hard to live as he would have me live, staying in prayer, making decisions with the bible as my guide, and living my life by faith. I know then that God will provide for me. He will work things out for me and give me not only everything I need but also provide me with more than I could have imagined.

Therefore, prepare your minds for action, be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14 As obedient children, do no conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.” -1st Peter 1:13-16
