Mea Culpa Mea Culpa, produced, written, and directed by Tyler Perry, is making quite a splash on social media. Released on Netflix the film stars Kelly Rowland and Mea Harper, Trevante Rhodes as Zyair Malloy, RonReaco Lee as Jimmy, and Nick Sagar as Ray. The story follows Mea, a defense attorney, who takes on a high-profile murder case in the defense of Zyair. A couple of things to get out of the way. Nick Sagar looked so familiar to me, then I realized he was in the Princess Switch. However, his being the love interest in the Princess Switch movies with Vanessa Hudgens would have been the farthest thought from my mind because the characters were so different. Tyler Perry is at it again and I am curious to see what he comes up with this time. The last movie of his that I watched was The Family that Preys, and I loved it. So ... don't even ask where I've been. I've been in da cut. Anyway, I caught this preview in the theaters then a friend of mine sent me the e-mail about it. So what do you all think? Is this another Why Did I Get Married hit? I am not a fan of all of Tyler Perry movies, but there are a couple of them that I absolutely love. From the looks of this trailer, The Family that Preys seems like it is going to be a very good watch. I am hoping so because I am rooting for TP . He is providing a lot of people with an avenue to exercise their talent that may not have had as much opportunity to do so if he were not in the game. Number one at the box office this weekend, pulling in over 21 million dollars, Why Did I Get Married? is a must see. Real talk, this is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. If you did not get a chance to watch, you have to go check this out. You will laugh (definitely laugh), cry (only if you have a heart), get ticked off, and feel inspired all through out this film. Tyler Perry does not disappoint by throwing in whopper size secrets in there but don't expect that this is like his plays. The only similarity is the ongoing message of having God in your life. The acting was great. The pacing was right on time. The writing was on point especially with the dialogue between the guys. Tyler Perry kept it real. Is it just me, or has the picking of Black movies been slim to none this year? I do not pay attention to the movies as much anymore since I do not get to go to the movies that much anymore but I do tend to notice when there is a good Black movie, and there just hasn't been that many. Why Did I Get Married, starring Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson, Sharon Leal, Jill Scott, and Denise Boutte, is a vacation full of drama when four married couples get together for their annual trip, only this year secrets come out and feelings get hurt. Tyler Perry's House of Payne This is the first season of the show Tyler Perry fans have been hearing him allude to over the past couple of years. Tyler Perry's House of Payne airs on TBS at 9/8 central on Wednesday nights. Critics are killing it with bad reviews and I think I know why. I have watched a couple of the shows and I have to say that they are actually funny but ... now you know there had to be one. As I was watching, I thought the laugh tracks were grossly misplaced to the point where they made the show seem dull. There are some very funny and witty jokes, in my opinion, made on the show; however the laugh track completely ignores them and is instead placed somewhere that doesn't make any sense. The reason this is a problem is because it leaves the viewer wondering what was so funny that they felt the need to place a laugh track.
