The Avengers

Image
I finally got to watch the Avengers. First off, I could definitely pass on the 3D. Although, I would totally go see it in IMAX. I freaken loved it! I will admit that there were some slow parts. They could have left that extra 20 mintues on the cutting room floor for an even two hours. Regardless though, those slow moments did not take away from the whole of the move. All of the Avengers held their own and brought their own brand of specialness to the table. I have to say though that Mark Ruffalo as Hulk stole the show. As much as I loved Edward Norton in his portrayal of the Hulk, I have to say that Ruffalo did not leave me room to miss Norton at all. I think that is a credit to his acting as well as the material he was given. All in all this was an A movie.

Love is Awesome!

Loving You Of you I am impressed Imperfections and all Of you I’m not just in love but In awe I think you have to be a little bit in awe of the person you love or are in love with. There has to be something about them that stands out and impresses you. When I think about the people I love, I think about who they are and what makes them special to me. I think about how much I am in awe of my children. Everything they are inspires me even when they are driving me crazy. I am even in awe of their ability to make me nuts. I am in awe of their energy and how much they can talk. I am in awe of their smile and their joy. I am in awe of their very existence. When I think about my mother, I am in awe of her quiet strength and how she gives more and more of herself. When I think about my sister I am in awe of her ability to love her kids so very much. When I think of my late husband I am in awe of his willingness to share; his generosity was beyond me. With each person that I love, I am ...

Gabourey Sidibe in Tower Heist

Image
Gabourey Sidibe and Alan Alda were the most entertaining aspects in Tower Heist with Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphey. If they had Murphey in for the funny factor, he fell short. He played a one dimensional, stereotypical character that only made me laugh in his one scene with Sidibe. Okay since Tower Heist was supposed to be a slap stick comedy, there really is not much to say about characterization and depth, but Alda played his deceptively evil Shaw well. I hated Alda's Arthur Shaw and hoped that he got what was coming to him. Sidibe on the other hand had me laughing every time she made an appearance. Her comedic timing and delivery was on point. I enjoyed her in Tower Heist , a comedy about a hotel manager that plans to steal back the retirement savings that was embezzled from his employees. C on DVD

Justin Timberlake in "In Time"

Image
I have to say that I loved the movie In Time . Will Salas, played by Justine Timberlake, is a bad ass but not in an unexpected way for the actor. The character did not take  Justine out of his element. For me it was a believable (as believable as one can be in a futuristic world where time is currency and people can live forever while still looking and feeling like a fresh 25 year old) portrayal of a person who has lost everything and feels like he has nothing to lose. The movie touched on political hot topics of commerce and how the have and have-nots live. I, of course, loved the action, science fiction elements and good looking white boys sprinkled through out. B+ In Time is now out on DVD.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

So if I am being nice, I would say Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance was okay. I would also say that you can wait for it on DVD. I would tell you how my 8-year old thought it was okay as well. I do not wish to be nice in this instance; I prefer to be brutally honest. The movie freaken sucked. I mean my kid who was looking forward to it and absolutely loves action movies thought it was just okay. Since he usually likes everything that has things blowing up, that is saying a lot. Nicholas Cage ’s acting was off. I do not know what he thought he was doing or what they were going for but he was corny. It was painful to watch. Then there was the story line! Yikes. If you are going to recycle a good old fashion son-of-Satan story, you better make it good. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance ’s version is a complete flop. Maybe it was supposed to be corny and I did not get the memorandum. Oh and do not even bother with the 3D. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance- D

Three Reasons Why I can't Get to the Movies

Image
Let's go to the movies! Well, in my case, let's go sit on the couch and watch some dvds. As much as I enjoying going to the movies, I have not been able to do that lately. My movie watching has completely fallen off. There are several reasons why this has happened to me. 1. I have children. Now that alone, does not limit my movie going activities. It if the fact that I just get tired of watching kid movies; and, frankly, I do not want to spend more money going to see one in the theater when I can rent something and they can watch it on their own. My kids are not old enough yet to get dropped off at the theaters. 2. I have a budget. Let's face it, a night out at the movies is starting to get pricey. Let's not even talk about the 3D versions and the overpriced concessions. As much as I would love to see a movie every weekend, 40 bucks a week (for the three of us) adds up really quick. 3. I have limited time. Money does not grow on trees, and you know what? Neither d...

Clive Davis Wrong?

There are many people out there that are upset with Clive Davis for allowing his pre-Grammy party to go on after Whitney Houston's death. I can understand that. I can appreciate that. I can appreciate that some people chose not to attend. Still, it is somewhat self-righteous to condemn him for having the party and to subsequently judge how he is feeling based off that decision. That is not fair. Personally, I would want them to have the party. I have never been one to be emotionally appropriate anyway, so heck have a blast and wish I was there with you. What I appreciate about life is people being together, enjoying each other and laughing. I am sure my mother would have a fit about it though since she is so traditional but those who know me would say have the party. In fact, I want my funeral reception to be a flipping party. The thing is that there will be plenty of time to mourn. When everyone is gone and the glitter is gone, the people that were touched by Whitney Houston...

Battleship 2012

Rihanna makes her debut in Battleship and I think it is a good choice for her. Look, this movie has to be just awful for me to stay away or hate it. The acting has to be piss poor, special effects low grade, and dialogue written for cows. The trailer has all my favorite elements- science fiction, mass casualty, destruction, aliens and explosives. Sooooo excited. What more can a scifi loving chick ask for. Oh wait, Liam Neeson is a nice bonus. The trailer and teaser trailer are pretty enticing. Film comes out in May. I can't wait to see Rihanna's first acting gig.

Movie Websites

Movie websites suck. Seriously, they are the worst. I want to go to a site and get at what I want without waiting 20 minutes for the flipping page to load because they have so much crap going on them. That is why I stay away from movie websites. Sometimes they are not even that great on giving basic information. I would rather go to yahoo or IMDB or some other site that gets right to the point. Just a quick rant about why I want them to just do better LOL.
