Putting God First? I Don't Think So.

I am ashamed to say that I do not put God first. I know there are moments in my life when I have (maybe weeks at a time, if that), but those moments are fleeting. Right now, I am genuinely saddened and disappointed with myself. The bible says 31Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? 32For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. 33But seek ([a]aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness ([b]His way of doing and being right), and then all these things [c]taken together will be given you besides. 34So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble. -Matthew 6:31-34 (Amplified Bible) Is that not clear enough? So, what do I do (and most of you out ther...

Purpose Driven Life Day 8: Planned for God's Pleasure

This was written six months ago when I was away in the wilderness for two weeks. -------------------------- For the Lord takes delight in his people ... - Psalms 149:8 NIV This chapter was a hard one for me because it pointed out just how much I was out of line with what God wants from me. It is hard for me to conceptualize worshipping Him always. I understand what Warren is saying, but I disconnect when it comes to transferring it into my life. Now that I have been made aware it is imperative that I remember to worship God with not only my occasional action bu also with my entire life 24/7 days of the week. When I look back at this week alone, I can only think of the many times when my behavior was far from worshipping God. In the beginning I complained quite a bit and mostly I have talked about people that annoy my unkindly. I have not embraced the situation for what God wants me to get out of it. Everyday I endeavor to be better. Now, I just have to constantly remember to live my li...

John Edwards ... Yousa liar

A greedy man brings trouble to his family ... - Proverbs 15:27 NIV I bet from the title it would seem that I am judging right? I'm not ... okay, I'm lying. I am just a little bit. In truth my judgement hardly means much though. It's God's judgment that matters in the end. There are many questions that this situation stirs up though and none of which I have the answers to. Nevertheless, this situation paints a picture of the type of screwed up society we are living in where family values take a back seat to selfishness, IMHO. We are greedy people. John Edwards' actions exponentially demonstrate his selfish greed. On the flip side, The National Enquire demonstrated its voracious greed in going after him as well as all other stars, and in turn its greed satisfies our (the public) want for more juicy, gossipy stories about those in the spotlight. Don't get me wrong; I think what John Edwards did is horrible. The adultery is obviously between God, him and his wife, b...

The Family that Preys

So ... don't even ask where I've been. I've been in da cut. Anyway, I caught this preview in the theaters then a friend of mine sent me the e-mail about it. So what do you all think? Is this another Why Did I Get Married hit? I am not a fan of all of Tyler Perry movies, but there are a couple of them that I absolutely love. From the looks of this trailer, The Family that Preys seems like it is going to be a very good watch. I am hoping so because I am rooting for TP . He is providing a lot of people with an avenue to exercise their talent that may not have had as much opportunity to do so if he were not in the game. Therefore, I am hoping for the best and I plan on going to watch this at the movies, not boot leg people :). Check out the trailer or visit the official site. Office website: The Family that Preys

Be Strong and Courageous!

Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you where ever you go. – Joshua 1:9 Are you sometimes doubtful about the future or saddened by the way your life is going? It is okay to feel that way sometimes. Some of the greatest biblical leaders had doubts even after they had been face to face with the miracles of God. Life is not always going to be at its best. We are not yet in heaven, so there will be hard times. This is not our final home. We are passing through this world and trying to make the best out of what are given. What separates us from the rest of the world is our love for God. What should drive us is not the need to live a better life for ourselves but to live a better life for God. Day in and day out we should be working and living for Him. We should be a shinning light for the rest of the world that shows how glorious we are no matter what we are going through. We still laugh and love because God is with us. Wha...

Single & Satisfied Part Three

Image
Now that we know that all singles have a common duty but don’t have all things in common, and that accepting yourself leads to single satisfaction let’s conclude the ways I have found to make my success in being single and satisfied. Treat yourself. Look there is no reason for any single person to be cooped up in the house all the time. Get out! Enjoy yourself. How else will you be able to meet people and fellowship? A friend of mine used to joke that the only way she was probably going to get married was if the pizza man asked her, because for so long that was the only person that she saw outside of work. Now that seems funny to some but think about it. How often do you just go out and enjoy being you. Enjoy who you are and revel in what God has done for you. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son … John 3:16 . Take yourself on a date. Get a pedicure, manicure, a haircut or stitch some weave in. Whatever makes you feel good, do it! Don’t wait for anyone to vali...

So, where have you been hiding?

Image
Okay, I guess that is not really a fair question since you have probably been where you're at all along. In truth, I have been the one missing in action. I sort of dropped off the cyber radar for a little bit. Don’t get me wrong. I still got on here to at least take a look at my favorite groups and message boards, glance at my e-mails, and research some information; but that’s about all. I haven’t posted anything. I haven’t e-mailed anyone. I haven’t even logged into MySpace (I don't do that regularly so I guess it does not really count). So where have I been? Well, I am proud to say that although I have not been reading as much as I would like to, I have still been reading the Bible. I have about 16 post that I need to get caught up on. For the most part though, I have been getting myself adjusted to being back in school. Believe me; I have needed prayer for that. It is a struggle for me because I have not done the school thing in about nine years. The other thing I have been ...

Stay Strong

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." 6So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid/ What can man do to me?" ~ Hebrews 13:5-6 NIV What can man do to me? Nothing that we do not allow and the only way to combat it is with the power of our mind. We have to stay vigilant all the time because there is so much negativity going on in the world that we can allow our spirits to be depressed and unproductive. It is easier to do nothing than it is to work everyday, actively making changes to our lives. With the economy struggling to get some life and gas and food prices on the rise, it could be hard to stay focused on God. I understand that which is why it is important to stay connected to him through a life line (bible, fellowship, church, ect). No matter what happens, there is always one person that we can hold onto- God!

Can You Live Young Again?

And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Mathew 18:3-4 NIV Watching my children evolve and grow, I can totally understand why God would want us to be more like them. There are so many qualities about their mind and spirit that allow for growth and strength. Children are miraculous creations that even in the womb can take on quite a bit of stress and still move on with happy hearts. What marvels me the most about them is their ability to ask for forgiveness and give it in return. My son and daughter fight and argue with each other as often as they smile and love each other. The funny thing about them is that when one comes to tell about what the other has done to him or her, all I have to do is stop and listen then make the “guilty” party apologize and have them hug each other for everything to be okay. Th...

Do You Believe In Miracles?

First off, please have a safe and wonderful Memorial Day. Let us take this time to not only remember those (soldiers, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, and etc) that we have lost but let us take today to pray for those that are still risking their lives. Let us pray for those who are back home and have lasting affects. I believe that God makes miracles happen every single day; however, this one is for people to take notice. I have posted links to the story and the youtube page. Basically, this woman wakes up after being 17 hours of being dead. Not only does she wake up be she is also in good health condition. http://www.newsnet5.com/health/16363548/detail.html #
