Battleship 2012

Rihanna makes her debut in Battleship and I think it is a good choice for her. Look, this movie has to be just awful for me to stay away or hate it. The acting has to be piss poor, special effects low grade, and dialogue written for cows. The trailer has all my favorite elements- science fiction, mass casualty, destruction, aliens and explosives. Sooooo excited. What more can a scifi loving chick ask for. Oh wait, Liam Neeson is a nice bonus. The trailer and teaser trailer are pretty enticing. Film comes out in May. I can't wait to see Rihanna's first acting gig.

Movie Websites

Movie websites suck. Seriously, they are the worst. I want to go to a site and get at what I want without waiting 20 minutes for the flipping page to load because they have so much crap going on them. That is why I stay away from movie websites. Sometimes they are not even that great on giving basic information. I would rather go to yahoo or IMDB or some other site that gets right to the point. Just a quick rant about why I want them to just do better LOL.

One for the Money

One for the Money starring Katherine Heigl Release date: January 27, 2012 I kinda sorta, on the fence, maybe so, yeah I guess, like Katherine. Even though I am not crazy about the stunt she pulled with Grey's Anatomy (because that's my show), I cannot help kind-sorta-maybe like her. I think it is because of my love of Roswell and she was one of the main characters. Besides that I have enjoyed most of her romcoms. With that being said, I want to see One for the Money . The poster is whack, horrible actually; but the trailer is entertaining. If for nothing else, I would want to see it for the family dynamics around the dinner table. I am feeling grandma. Also starring Daniel Sunjata (hot and yummy), John Leguizamo , and Sherri Shepherd, One for the Money looks pretty good. It is up against some strong competition that weekend though. I'm thinking Man on the Ledge is going to be victorious. One for the Money at Yahoo

The Grey with Liam Neeson

Image
The Grey with Liam Neeson Release January 27, 2012 The trailer starts off with Neeson's character talking about his job out in the middle of no where and how he can't wait to get back to his wife. Right off the bat, I'm thinking it is about to be a kick ass spy movie or something. Well, then the clip cuts to a plane crash and he is stranded in the middle of the freezing cold and there are wolves and a camp fire blah blah blah. I really like Neeson's acting skills but there are two other movies coming out the week of the 27th that beat this trailer. This is one of those that I can wait to see on DVD or something. I am sure it is going to be a really good movie just not one that I will be seeing in the theater. The Grey website

My Sould to Take

Image
My Sould to Take Tananarive Due My Soul to Take is Due’s fourth installment of her immortal series. Where My Soul to Keep introduced us to this race of immortals through the life of Dawit/David, My Soul to Take further explores their lives through the life of his exceptional child, Fana. Due’s writing style is captivating while weaving a meaningful story together. I enjoyed this book because it had all the exciting elements that I love in a supernatural fictional tale: immortals, super powers, killer virus, covert government operations, global conspiracies and despicable villains sprinkled with a little bit of romance. What more could a girl ask for? Fana has to deal with her fiancé’s penchant for world destruction while struggling with her unnatural attraction to him. If she does not find a way to keep him satisfied while attempting to keep the peace with her immortal clan, everyone in the world can die or fall prey to the evil rule of her fiancé. All through out the novel, I

What is in a title?

So I have written this poem. The only problem is that I cannot come up with a good title that fits. A title sometimes can make or break a piece of art. I have forgone seeing a moving based on the title alone. Case in point, "Love and a Bullet." I mean really! What were they thinking with that title. Who would want to see something called Love and a Bullet? Poor Treach. Okay, granted, there were a whole lot of things wrong with that movie, but the title sure did not help. With that said, I am stuck on a title for this poem that I just finished. I really want to publish it but blah. It will have to wait until the appropriate title hits me. It is particularly important to get the title right in a short piece because the title then becomes part of the story itself. So, no title, not poem for me tonight.

I’d Rather Go Blind

I’d Rather Go Blind Wanda M Toby She loved him for more years than she cared to admit. The way he moved on the court and the way he talked and the way he walked, as if he was born with swagger laced in his bones. Over the years their friendship had grown to one that she could not really explain. She watched women come in and out of his life like cars in a shopping mall on Black Friday. None of it fazed her. She was the one he called in his precious quiet times, when the cameras and crowds were gone. She was the one he talked with and spent time with and planned his future with. She was the one he took care of and protected. She was the one he never wanted to touch for fear that he would ruin what they had and hurt her, like he did with all the rest. The sexual tension between them was so thick that she felt it suffocating her at times. She looked down at him, sleeping quietly with his head in her lap. The urge to bend her head and kiss his lips had her heart racing so fast that her c

Katt Williams Now

Image
I was a little curious about what Mr. Katt Williams was up to these days since the media frenzy over his law run ins. Just a few years ago he was the comedy golden boy much like Kevin Hart is now and Dave Chappelle once was. I am definitely not waiting or hoping for Kevin Hart to flip out and lose it, but his rise to fame did have me think about Katt. At any rate, Katt Williams is attempting to get his career back on track. He has been doing some stand up events most notably the past couple of months to bring in the new year. Personally, I wish him well. Katt on FaceBook

Fruit Ninja

Image
I know I am late to the party but I downloaded the full version of Fruit Ninja on my Android phone and now I am  hooked. Then I had to download it to my iTouch for the kids. Another great way to waste time, darnit. On a good note, it does take my mind off stress for the moment.

Red Tails Controversy

Red Tails is to be released in theaters January 20th. Please go see this film on opening weekend. A crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee training program, having faced segregation while kept mostly on the ground during World War II, are called into duty under the guidance of Col. A.J. Bullard. As the war in Europe continues to take its toll on Allied forces, the Pentagon brass has no recourse but to consider unorthodox options -- including the untried and untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program There are many reasons to go see this film- the actions, the story line, a piece of history, and they eye candy. However, as a predominately Black casted film it faced the same issues that most Black films face, lack of Hollywood support. See George Lucas discuss the difficulty of bringing the project to the screen. "One of the first all black action pictures ever made," George Lucas I do not want to get on m

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer

G.I. Joe: Retaliation oh my! It comes out June 2012 and I am soooo ready. Channing Tatum , Bruce Willis , and Dwayne Johnson are starring in this second installment which is quite intriguing. The trailer itself is pretty enticing.

Review: Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Image
Finally watched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with Tom Cruise and Paula Patton today, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy the MI movies. Let's take it for what it is- an action packed movie that is high on the stunts but low on the reality. I do not really care about the obvious, "Oh no he can't really fall like that and survive" moments. I just liked it. Some of the comedic moments were duds but I enjoyed Simon Pegg and Benji very much. He has great comedic timing and sense of making himself present while playing a supporting role. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie with subtle twist that I enjoyed. Review: B

Hate Him: Jesse Williams II

Naomie Harris in Skyfall

Image
Naomie Harris has been cast in the new Bond franchise movie, Skyfall, to be released this November. I remember Harris from 28 Days Later where she played one of the few people still alive in a virus infected, zombie filled city. I loved her gritty style in that role. However, her acting chops were done an injustice when she played in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I hated her as Calypso, or should I say I hated her character and the whole idea of Calypso for that matter. I hope she collected a nice check for those and moved up on the acting totem pole. At any rate, she will definitely get a step up in America for her casting in Skyfall with Daniel Craig (I thought he was done?). I am looking forward to seeing what role she takes and how it plays out. Good luck Naomie!!

Blue Ivy Carter

Blue Ivy Carter Yes, yes. By this time, the world is aware that Blue Ivy Carter has arrived. Personally, I think they should release the birth video for those that doubt she was ever pregnant in the first place. Then again, who is to say that the footage was not doctored. Oh, well. I guess that "rumor" can still be in circulation except with the twist being that it was a surrogate or test tube baby all along. Now Blue already has a twitter trend, song, and acronym (BIC). All of these accomplishments before she has slept through the night. My my my we are obsessive. Well, congratulations and God bless another family.

I'm In Love with Reese Witherspoon's Husband!

Image
Holy crap! I just fell in love with Jim Toth, Reese Witherspoon's husband. In her Elle article this month, Reese says about hubby, "Jim said, 'I'm gonna show you every day what a good partner is, what a good person is. I'm going to take care of you. I'm gonna do this so much that you're gonna get used to it,'" the "Election" actress says. "I was like, 'What are you talking about?' I've never had anybody like that in my life." Girl, keep that tidbit to yourself because every woman wants a dude to say some romantic fairytale stuff like that to her and then prove it.

Who are you Anthony Mackie?

Image
One of my favorite movies last year was The Adjustment Bureau and in it was this hottie Black dude. Then I spotted him in another fave, Real Steel . Interest peaked, I wanted to know who he was. Mr. Anthony Mackie has been around but totally under the radar ... well, my radar. He played Papa Doc in 8 Mile and had various roles in several pictures over the years (Tupac in Notorious). Look, I might be the only person that did not watch The Hurt Locker, so I am not aware of his wonderful performance okay. His performance in The Adjustment Bureau was heart warming and credible. He has several projects coming up over the next year. I hope he has made some good film choices because he seems to be at a good point to get to the next level. Did I mention he is a cutie too ;). He is not without a little bit of controversy though.  This Julliard graduate might have called Black Hollywood lazy ... oopsy. Macki profile
