Beyonce 4

Beyonce 4 is hot. I would not bother with the two disk special because I am not really feeling the other two songs. However, the tracks on the main album are all hot. Most of the album is just plain out good R&B stuff. A couple of tracks are reminiscent of the 90's and she has a couple of soulful ballads as well. I have to say that I was a bit skeptical at first, especially with reports of her record label not being pleased. I love the album though. She is giving Adele some competition in my rotation.

35 and Ticking

35 and Ticking totally went under my radar. If it wasn't for a girlfriend of mine, I would not have even known to watch this movie. Now on DVD, it is a funny look at love and relationships among women who are well, 35 and ticking. When I think about all the actors in the movie, I think it might be easier to tell who was not in it. The thing that I enjoyed most was that these were regular folk (well most of them were regular), living their everyday lives. I just plain old enjoyed the movie and I am a sucker for good endings. The cast alone is a pretty good draw starting with Kevin Hart . Nicole Ari Parke, Tamala Jones, Kieth Robinson and Meagan Goode round it off but there are a lot of surprising faces. B

Hanna 2011

Image
Hanna , the movie, came and went without much fuss. Upon watching the preview, I knew I wanted to see it because Hanna looked like she was bad ass. The movie did not disappoint in that regard. It is definitely one to place on your DVD-to-watch list. Saoirse Ronan was believable as a confused little girl, Hanna, who could kick anyone's butt who steps to her, courtesy of her ex-CIA father, played by Eric Bana . I love Eric Bana in almost everything that he does. The person I enjoyed the most though was ruthless Marissa, portrayed by Cate Blanchett . This movie was well paced, well written and worth the watch. B+

Poplyfe

Poplyfe is a band of youngster who are contenders in the semifinals for America's Got Talent. I do not really watch the show but I will watch Poplyfe. These kids play (kill) instruments and the lead vocal has a beautiful soul that shines through her equally beautiful voice. Win or lose on America's Got Talent, Poplyfe definitely has a music career going on. Visit their site
