*Sacramento Kings player Ron Artest has apologized for his domestic violence arrest and returned to the team in time for a Sunday game against the Denver Nuggets.
The trouble-prone athlete had been excused indefinitely from all team activities on Tuesday, one day after he was arrested at his home when a woman called 911 and said she had been assaulted. A police report says Artest slapped the woman's face and grabbed her repeatedly, causing visible injuries on her hand and leg.
“First, I want to apologize to my wife, to my family," Artest said Saturday at a hastily-arranged news conference. Fighting back tears, he continued: "I want to apologize to the Kings, to my teammates, to the NBA, everybody."
