"CHANGING THE WORLD ONE CITY AT A TIME"

One of my greatest weaknesses in the past was always trying to please others. What people thought about me, what they were saying about me, and how they regarded me as a person, was one of my greatest concerns. At one time I became so concerned about how others perceived, received, or believed me, that it was totally stressing me out. I would become so depressed about how they misunderstood or misinterpreted me, how they would say things about me that was absolutely not true, and how they would treat me with little respect. And then spiritual maturity taught me that I was focusing on the wrong things. I realized that God is not concerned about me pleasing others but wants me to love others, in spite of what they say, think, or feel about me, so that He can be pleased.
.
As believers we say that we love everyone, but is that really true? How many times have we told others that we love them only because the bible requires us to do so? Do we love because it is something that we must do as children of God? And if we truly love one another why is it that we are always looking to criticize, judge, and condemn one another? Why do we find it so easy identifying the weaknesses rather than the strengths of others? Why do we focus so much on the insecurities, shortcomings, and lacking in others, rather than just love them and pray God gives them what they need to be successful? The answers to those questions are found in the word of God. The bible teaches us in 1st Corinthians 13:4; "Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up"; love is unselfish, love gives others the benefit of the doubt, love is understanding, compassionate, and encouraging. Most of all love is eternal and the greatest godly characteristic that a believer can possess.
.
Remember the scriptures found in Matthew 26:48-50 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him." Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him. Even though Judas betrayed Jesus, He still called him friend. Therefore if we are looking to be more like the Master, we must operate in His love.
Today's Scripture Meditation Verses: (New King James Version)
Matthew 5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
Let us pray: Lord, I thank YOU for teaching me how to truly love…in Jesus Name, Amen.
