Evolution of Music - Pentatonix

This is what happens when I cut down on my music watching activities. How did I miss this group? If it were not for my Wizard of Ahhhs post, I would still be in the dark of this feel good experience. Pentatonix sound great and this medley is fun to listen too. Now I'm going to go on a Pentatonix (yes, I freaken love acapella darn it) binge on their Youtube page, PTXofficial .

The Wizard of Ahhhs by Todrick Hall

The Wizard of Ahhhs by Todrick Hall For those that do not know Todrick Hall, he was an Idol contestant the season before last. I stopped watching Idol a long time ago, but I read that he was in the top 16 of season nine. At any rate, I love his Youtube page. He is a creative kid and this video just makes me smile. Enjoy.

White House Down

White House Down Starring: Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal Why is everyone trying to bring down the White House? Remember Olympus Has Fallen with Gerard Butler? This version of taking down the White House was way better. I do not know if it is because of Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum but I felt more of a connection with these two characters. Tatum played Cale, a secret service agent that aspired to guard the president but did not quite meet the credentials on paper. Foxx played the president in a subdued, subtle manner that not only made him likable but believable. Cale's relationship with his daughter and her spicy (well rude, really) attitude rounded off his vulnerability.  The Channing-Tatum pairing was entertaining. They matched well together for comedic timing as well as the action sequences. I have to mention how I love a really good bad guy and the villain(s) were so detestable that I did not mind if they choked on their own blood from a horrible wou

Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me 2 Starring: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig and Benjamin Bratt Gru is back but this time he is working for the good guys and finding love. I'm glad I have children because without them I'm pretty sure I would have never taken the time to see this lovely animated film. Personally, I enjoyed the second installment of Despicable Me as much as the first. In truth, I think I enjoyed the experience of watching the movie in a theater full of kids more than anything. They are just so darn joyful and laugh out loud at the silliest things. Needless to say, the kids loved the movie. It was fun, light and entertaining. However, the minions took center stage (I know, another theater reference). The movie would not have been half as good without them, which I am guessing was quite intentionally since the word is that they (minions) are supposed to get their own movie. All in all an enjoyable time for the family. As is evident by the fact that Despicable Me 2 is still killing

Elle Varner's Perfectly Imperfect

Image
I do not know where I have been or why I have been sleeping on this chick. This just goes to show how I have lost my R&B and Soul way. I have been led a stray by pop, gosh darn it, and that is just not acceptable. I beseech my fellow music lovers out there to lead me back on the right path. With that said, I am so in love with Perfectly Imperfect, Varner's debut album released last year. It is 11 tracks of R&B goodness. Lyrics are real and heart-tugging. What real chick cannot relate to "So Fly?" There is something for everyone played to the tune of smooth rhythms and a beautiful voice. Perfectly Imperfect 9/10

Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim Starring:  Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba and Rinko Kikuchi I did not want to see this movie, but my two lovely children really wanted to watch it. There must be something about giant mechanical fighting robots that appeals to kids. I remember when Real Steel came out, and I did not want to see that either but again the kids really wanted to. Turns out that I really enjoyed Real Steel (there's talks about a Real Steel 2, yay) and I really enjoyed Pacific Rim as well. Okay, for the record, I will never get tired of a good alien invasion story. With that said, aliens are invading Earth yet again. This time they come from the sea and are bad ass giant creatures that are relentless and have a plan of total annihilation. That's what I'm talking about! Of course, the ingenius Earthlings that we are, we find a way to fight them by building huge fighting machines powered by human pilots. The action sequences in this movie was interesting considering the computer grap

The Watch

The Watch with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn is playing on HBO this week. I love a good alien movie and like one even better with comic relief. The Watch is on the crude side but entertaining in its absurd stupidity. It is cool to watch at home and gave me a few chuckles. The Watch C+
